1. Training Objective

1.1 General Objective

After completion of the master of transportation engineering program, the graduates would have highly professional qualification; ability to master scientific and technological fields, relating to the transportation engineering; systematic thinking; solid technical and scientific knowledge; ability to conduct a research independently and creatively; and ability to adapt well to the socio-economic environment

The program would offer advanced and upgrading theoritical knowledge about the transportation engineering to ensure the intigration with regional countries and the connection of training levels

1.2 Specific Objective

  1. Application orientation
    After completion of the master of transportation engineering, the graduates with application orientation would be able to:
    – Update highly professional knowledge and grasp newly advanced technological knowledge of the transportation engineering
    – Apply advanced technology in production, exploit and use combusion engine, road, water and air transportation, specialised vehicle and aero-hydraulic equipment
    – Use techniques, skills and advanced tools of the transportation engineering in reality
    – Work in a interdisciplinary group and meet requirement from industrial projects with the participation of experts from various fields
    – Identify problems and apply advanced knowledge, technical tools and practical skills to solve problems and meet the practical requirement of the society

    b. Research Orientation
    After completion of the master of transportation engineering with research orientation, the graduates would have:
    – Highly professional knowledge and interdisciplinary technical knowledge that will be widely applied in the transportation engineering field
    – Sciecntific methods for doing research, self-study, effective and creative use of technical inventions and advanced tools to solve practical problems of the transportation engineering
    – Proficiency in analysing and synthesizing components, systems on the transportation facilities and aero-hydraulic systems; detecting problems and using professional and interdisciplinary knowledge to find solutions for specific cases in the transportation engineering field, both domestic and the local region.
    – Scientific and professional working methods, systematic thinking, ability to present, communicate and work in team effectively, and ability to integrate into the international envvironment.
    – Ability to meet requirements from production, research, teaching and techno-scientific service in the transportation engineering field
    – Knowledge for Ph.D study at both, domestc and overseas

2 Study time

The course is designed for 1 year long (2 semesters). According to the credit-based training regulation, to complete the program, students could extend maximum 2 years (4 semesters)

3 Amount of knowledge for the whole course

Application orientation: 40 credits
4 Eligible Candidates

4.1 About the degree

The candidates sould have one of the following degrees:

(1) – 5-year undergraduate degree with major in transportation engineering, including automobile, combusion engine, aero-hydraulic machinery offered by HUST and automotive engineering, automotive technology, heavy-duty vehicle, construction machinery, agriculture machinery, forestry machinery, combusion engine, ship engineering, aeronautic engineering, aero-hydraulic machinery and similar major offered by other universities.

(2) – 4 or 4.5-year undergraduate degree with major in transportation engineering, including automobile, combusion engine, aero-hydraulic machinery offered by HUST and automotive engineering, automotive technology, heavy-duty vehicle, construction machinery, agriculture machinery, forestry machinery, combusion engine, ship engineering, aeronautic engineering, aero-hydraulic machinery and similar major offered by other universities.

(3) – 5-year undergraduate degree with major close to the transsportation engineering (Machine manufacturing, thermal technology, other mechanical engineering offered by HUST and irrigation mechanical engineering, hydro-equipment, energy equipment offered by other universities).

(4) – 4 or 4.5 year-undergraduate degree with major close to transportation engineering (Machine manufacturing, thermal technology, other mechanical engineering offered by HUST and irrigation mechanical engineering, hydro-equipment, energy equipment offered by other universities).

Candidates who take a part-time training type of others are subject to decision made by the STE

4.2 Length of service

For candidates who apply for the research orientation

– Persons who hold a degree with ranking above average could take an exam right after completing the undergraduate program

– The remains must have minimum  1-year working experience in the suitable field

– For candidates who apply for the application orientation, the length of service is not required

– Knnowledge supplement and upgrading

Candidates who are in the category 1 as shown in section 4.a above are not required for supplement and bridging courses

– Candidates who are in categories (3) and (4) as shown in section 4.a above are required for supplement and bridging courses: 9 credits

– Candidates who are in category (3) as shown in section 4.a above are required for supplement and bridging courses during their study: 6 credits

– Candidates who are in categories (2) and (4) as shown in section 4.a above are required for supplement and bridging courses during their study: 15 credits

Cadidates who take a part-time study type and others are subject to decision made by STE

5 Training process and graduation conditions

The training process is designed following credit base, under the HUST’s regulations on post-graduate training organisation and management promulgated in the Decision Number 1492/QĐ-ĐHBK-SĐH dated 30 September 2009 by the HUST’s president.
